Sustainability at TNT and Evergreen

We prioritize reuse and recycling on every job—cutting costs for clients, reducing emissions across the Okanagan, and keeping valuable resources in circulation.

Soil Manufacturing & Earthworks (Old Vernon Road Yard)

Our main yard is the hub for soil manufacturing and remediation. We accept clean fill from job sites and blend it with biomass, mulch, and naturally derived fertilizers created on site. Materials are turned, watered, and screened over several months to create premium growing mediums. The result is an amended topsoil that’s nutrient-rich, free-draining, and consistent ideal for landscapers, growers, and homeowners across the valley. Because we manufacture locally and back-haul on our own trucks, we shrink transport miles and pass savings directly to customers.

Vermiculture—Nature’s Turbocharger

To accelerate composting and boost soil health, we maintain red-wiggler worm beds within our fertilizer piles. Vermicast adds beneficial microbes and stable organic matter while shortening the time it takes to turn green waste into sale-ready soil. It’s a low-energy, high-return system that turns “waste” into a premium input.

Wood Mulch & On-Site Grinding

We accept logs, stumps, and yard trimmings from arborists and landscapers, processing them with our chipper and tracked Krok grinder. Material is separated into clean size grades for landscape mulch or used in our soil mixes. For large farm, vineyard, or orchard volumes, we mobilize the grinder to process on site so clients can reuse mulch immediately and avoid repeated hauling.

Shared Equipment, Fewer Emissions

Across TNT and Evergreen Hazmat Solutions , we share equipment to avoid duplication. Our Krok grinder—Stage 3 emissions with DEF—works triple duty: chipping green waste, crushing concrete into 3″ or 6″ minus, and compacting demolition debris for efficient hauling. A magnet removes metals for recycling before the aggregate is reused under new pads or as engineered backfill. Excavators and skid steers rotate between divisions. Even operator trucks serve construction in summer and snow operations in winter, keeping assets maintained and emissions down.

Fleet Renewal & End-of-Life Recovery

We’re progressively replacing older tandems with cleaner, more efficient models. Retired units are stripped for usable components, with remaining steel recycled. Our in-house mechanics and welders rebuild parts where practical, extending service life and keeping more material out of the waste stream.

Demolition with Recovery in Mind

Every demolition project starts with a salvage plan. We identify items for reuse, resale, or donation framing lumber, plywood, doors, windows, cabinets, lighting, appliances, and even trees or shrubs that can be relocated. We supply training doors to local police and fire departments and rehome plant material when possible. During tear-down, clean wood and metals are separated for recycling, and shingles are removed per municipal rules. Concrete is crushed with the Krok and reused as base or backfill fewer landfill trips, lower tipping fees, and cleaner sites.

Hazardous Waste: Contain, Label, Dispose

Minor hazardous materials are double-bagged in 6-mil poly and delivered to approved facilities (e.g., household hazardous waste and fluorescents/PCBs) with chain-of-custody maintained. Vacant sites can harbor needles or biomedical hazards; crews stop work, notify management, and use proper PPE and sharps containers for safe removal.

Abatement & Remediation (Evergreen Hazmat Solutions)

For asbestos, lead, mold, or wildfire debris, Evergreen Hazmat Solutions coordinates third-party Hazardous Materials Surveys and performs abatement to code. All “hot” materials are labeled, washed, and sealed in 6-mil poly before being loaded in lined bins and hauled by licensed carriers on tracked manifests to approved landfills. For wildfire ash, we use bin liners or bagging to prevent dust release.

Metal Recycling & IT Reuse

Mixed metals are brought to our yard, sorted by type, and sent for smelting and reuse. In the office, our partners at Good I.T. manage device lifecycles, prioritize reuse, and recycle hardware securely. We also share machines and licenses where practical to reduce unnecessary purchases.

Our Promise

Sustainability isn’t a line item it’s our lens. By prioritizing recovery, on-site processing, shared equipment, and rigorous hazardous-waste protocols, TNT and Evergreen cut costs, shrink emissions, and deliver better outcomes for clients and the Okanagan.
